Dientes is currently partnering with New York University (NYU) Langone Dental Medicine Postdoctoral Residency Programs to train the next generation of dental professionals.
Dientes’ Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) in partnership with NYU Langone is focused on training dental school graduates to become skilled, competent, confident oral healthcare practitioners who are not only able to perform a variety of dental procedures, but also provide compassionate and patient-centered care. Residents will be trained in a wide range of modern dental diagnosis and treatment modalities while being cognizant of the challenges that face our patient population, 97% of whom live at or below the federal poverty level.
Why Dientes?
Dientes’ high-quality care, state-of-the-art facilities, comprehensive dental services, and affordability demonstrate not what most low-income health clinics are, but what they could be.
Dientes is the largest dental clinic for low-income people in Santa Cruz County. For nearly 30 years, we have worked hard to ensure that cost, insurance, income, language, and transportation do not prevent people from visiting the dentist. Dientes currently provides care at three full-time bilingual clinics and through an Outreach Program that brings care to 30+ venues in the community.
Dientes has led county-wide efforts to document and respond to the need for care with cross-sector collaboration, piloted other workforce development programs, and embarked on expansions through strong partnerships.
We envision a community where children can focus on school instead of a toothache, adults can make good first impressions and get a job because they have a healthy smile, and seniors can comfortably eat nutritious foods.
Dientes’ comprehensive care is unparalleled. Services include:
- oral health education & hygiene
- general dentistry
- endodontics (advanced root canal therapy)
- oral surgery
- periodontics
- pedodontics (specialized dental care for children and children with disabilities)
