Resources
Medi-Cal & Healthy Families
Depending on your financial and/or living circumstances, you may be available for public insurance: Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, or Healthy Kids. You can enroll for these programs through another agency before making your appointment at Dientes.
Medi-Cal
To be eligible for Medi-Cal, you must be a resident of California and your resources must be under Medi-Cal limits. If you are a medical patient at any of the following clinics, you may apply for Medi-Cal insurance there:
- Planned Parenthood
- Salud Para La Gente
- Watsonville Community Hospital
- County Health Department
Healthy Families
The Healthy Families Program is very low cost insurance that provides health, dental and vision coverage to children who do not have insurance today and do not qualify for no-cost Medi-Cal.
When you enroll your children in the Program, you choose the health, dental and vision insurance plans. The plans provide the health, dental and vision coverage for your children. This insurance pays most of your children’s costs for visits to doctors, dentists, and specialists. The insurance plans also contract with clinics, laboratories, pharmacies and hospitals for your children’s health care.
Healthy Kids
The Healthy Kids Health Plan covers children if they are ineligible for full-scope, no share of cost Medi-Cal or the Healthy Families program. In order for a child to be eligible for the Healthy Kids Health Plan,ALL of the following conditions must be met:
- Under 19 years of age
- Resident of Santa Cruz County
- Family income at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level
- Have not had employer paid insurance within the last 3 months.
- Ineligible for full–scope, no share of cost Medi-Cal or the Healthy Families Program.
